About this event

COURSE DESCRIPTION: If you love playing with fire and metal, this course is for you. You'll learn how to carve molds out of cuttlebones, the backbone of the cuttlefish, a Mediterranean squid. You'll also learn how to melt and pour metal into your molds, and learn finishing techniques for cast objects. Expect to leave the workshop with at least one piece of finished jewelry. INSTRUCTOR BIO: Sandra Mora is a silversmith with five years of experience in the jewelry industry. A local Rhode Islander, she received her BFA in printmaking from Rhode Island College, where she discovered her love of metalsmithing. She occupies her time furthering her knowledge in fabrication techniques, ranging from filigree, hand raising vessels, casting and chasing and repousse; that she incorporates into her own work. From her teaching practice, what she finds most enjoyable is getting a chance to learn from her students while sharing the magic that is metalsmithing. COURSE WITHDRAWAL AND TRANSFERS: All enrollments are subject to our REGISTRATION & ENROLLMENT POLICIES.
