GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Social Security benefits will be sent later this month on Jan. 14, 21 and 28 by birthday, while Supplemental Security Income checks were mailed on Dec. 31. The 2.8%-cost-of-living adjustment adds about $56 per month to checks, and a local office is open at 130 Bellevue Ave. The Newport Daily News
