- ➤ The Potter League for Animals received a $2.9 million bequest from longtime volunteer Roxann Press during its annual meeting Wednesday at Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina. Her donation, the largest in the organization’s nearly 100-year history, will help fund veterinary care, shelter operations and community programs. What's Up Newp

- ➤ Curtis Speer moved his fine art gallery to Newport and is energizing the local art scene by launching a new CUSP wallpaper collection and hosting collaborative events with local artists. - ➤ Social Security recipients in Newport will receive February benefits with a 2.8% increase, with regular checks on Feb. 11, 18, and 25 and SSI checks on Jan. 30.
