At the Newport Winter Festival, The Reef won the Hot Drink Contest on Thursday while Jo’s American Bistro took second and Red Parrot came in third.

The contest was one of the festival’s final events, which runs until Feb. 22.

Newport Classical invites artists to submit original artwork for its first poster contest for the summer music festival with submissions due April 1; the winning design ($500 prize) will be used to promote the event in Newport and on social media, and the festival runs July 2-19.

Dr. Michael Fine urges Newport communities to develop new scholarship programs to help local students afford medical school and train as primary care doctors.

He explains that high tuition costs limit opportunities for diverse candidates and calls for immediate change.
