Michael Shawver (a film editor from North Providence) is nominated for an Oscar for best editing for Sinners.

The 98th Academy Awards take place tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern, and WLNE-TV airs the ceremony locally.

Newport held its 70th annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade last Saturday at 11 a.m. despite gusts reaching 40 mph — the festive event saw residents in green attire and leprechaun costumes celebrating local tradition along the parade route.
