- ➤ Local donors helped Lucy’s Hearth collect over 50 pairs of pajamas from drop-off sites in Middletown, Newport, and Kathryn Brady, bringing comfort to children in need. - ➤ The Artillery Company celebrated its 284th birthday on March 29th at Clarke Street armory with a dinner where more than 44 members, families, and guests gathered—Congressman Gabe Amo spoke and presented a citation to Colonel-Commanding William Farrell. The event featured a cake-cutting shared by the oldest member, Colonel Robert Edenback, and the youngest, PVT Anthony Insana—additional speakers highlighted the company’s long role in Newport history. - ➤ The Newport Folk Festival announced its lineup on March 31 with country artist Luke Combs—an acclaimed act in contemporary country music—set to perform on Saturday, July 26. - ➤ Newport in Bloom’s 14th Annual Daffodil Days will celebrate over one and a half million blooming daffodils with events planned throughout April—opening ceremonies kick off at Bannister’s Wharf on April 5 at noon when Susan Sipprelle and Mayor Charlie Holder cut the daffodil garland, followed by a dog parade later that day, a bike tour on April 26, and a car parade on April 27 at Easton’s Beach with proceeds helping future giveaways.
