Lottery officials said the new Mega Millions game now costs $5 instead of $2 and has better odds, with prizes now ranging from $10 to $50 + a jackpot that stands at $54-million.
Local retailers said it is too soon to tell how these changes will affect play ahead of Tuesday night's drawing.
🌲 Environment
Save The Bay counted 755 seals in our waters, with 551 in Narragansett Bay and extra seals near Block Island, and shark expert Jon Dodd said more seals do not mean more sharks this summer.
He explained that young great whites pass by our coast while larger ones go to Cape Cod—so a higher seal count is unlikely to boost local shark attacks.

Saturday night's Grenon’s Newport Night Run—a 5K race for local education—unfolded at Rogers High School in rainy conditions.
Adrian Massie won overall at 17:04 with Nathaniel Tokarsky and Fred Barber finishing at 17:58 and 18:22, while Lil Harding led the women finishing at 19:59 with Genevieve Primeau at 20:33 and Margaret McCaffrey at 21:54.
