  • RENEWport will host internationally-renowned political scientist Robert D. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The League of Women Voters Newport County is launching its Observer Corps to watch public meetings by city and town councils and school committees across the County. Members from Tiverton, Little Compton, Newport, Portsmouth, Middletown, and Jamestown will serve as observers to help keep government meetings open and accountable.  What's Up Newp
  • Sen. Ujifusa and Rep. Tanzi introduced two bills to help people with mental health and substance abuse issues get fair insurance coverage. The bills would force insurers to use standard care rules and stop preapproval for in-network care—similar to a policy already in place with BCBSRI.  What's Up Newp
  • Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank closed on a $3.8 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan to the Prudence Island Water District to install a new chlorination system that will restore safe drinking water for 328 residents under a boil water advisory since 2018—installation is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.  What's Up Newp
