Good morning, Newport.

On April 19, hundreds of beer fans gathered at Fort Adams State Park for the Newport Beer Festival—where local and regional breweries including Ragged Island Brewing, Rejects Beer Co., and new Newport brewery Pivotal Brewing served a range of beers with live music from the Z-Boys.

Dozens of vendors from Aquidneck Island and other parts of the state took part while the Rhode Island Brewers Guild will soon share details for the upcoming Ocean State Brewers Fest.

The Newport Daily News has launched a weekly poll inviting local high school sports fans to vote for the Team of the Week based on coaches' reports, with coaches emailing box scores by 10 p.m. each night and voting open until Friday night — nominees include teams from Portsmouth, Middletown, and Tiverton — as the contest aims to boost local support for our schools.
