- ➤ Lawmakers plan to reconsider a bill that would criminalize iGaming for 18—20-year-olds after it was defeated 7—5 by the House Judiciary Committee on April 22 amid concerns it might conflict with existing laws allowing in-person gambling. The measure—introduced at the request of the State Police—is opposed by critics including the ACLU and the Public Defender’s Office, who say it creates legal confusion and may violate House rules. - ➤ The Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced that two extended weekend lane closures on Route 1 at the Route 138 interchange in North Kingstown will begin on May 1 for accelerated bridge construction. The southbound bridge will be replaced from 9 p.m. May 1 until 5 a.m. May 5 and the northbound bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. May 8 until before the morning commute on May 12 with detours set to maintain access to local businesses.
