- ➤ United Congregational Church celebrated its 330th anniversary last Sunday with a Daffodil Dedication in which more than 35 members planted 330 daffodils on the church’s front lawn—an event that also marked the 50th anniversary of its current home at 524 Valley Road. - ➤ Portsmouth police arrested Nelson Rivera—36—from Chelsea on May 4 at Glen Manor House after a routine check revealed a suspicious car; he admitted to carrying a concealed 9mm handgun while intoxicated and will face arraignment in Newport on May 8 with bail set at $5,000. What's Up Newp
- ➤ Portsmouth Police arrested Nelson Rivera from Chelsea, Mass.—he was charged on May 4th with carrying a pistol while intoxicated and without a permit outside Glen Manor House after an officer found a suspicious car with open alcoholic beverages, ammo, and a concealed handgun, and he is scheduled for re-arraignment on May 8th with bail set at $5,000. - ➤ Newport Classical’s Executive Director Gillian Fox—who led the group since 2021 and added year-round programs—will become President and CEO of the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah starting June 9.
