- ➤ Rhode Island state beaches allow overnight stays only with permits, and many town beaches restrict sleeping on the sand outside daylight hours. Visitors should check local rules, as designated campgrounds in coastal areas (Charlestown Breachway, Narragansett) are available for permitted camping. The Newport Daily News
- ➤ Crews are replacing the seven joints on the westbound spans of the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge; traffic is limited to one lane + drivers are asked to slow to 25 mph and expect delays. WJAR NBC 10
- ➤ Gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes proposed a $100 million plan on Wednesday, May 13 to build new career and technical schools across the state, funded by a future general obligation bond requiring voter approval, with endorsements from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 57 and Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena Jr. The Newport Daily News
- ➤ Rhode Island State Police used a rollover simulator today to show how unbuckled driving can be dangerous. The demonstration revealed that dummies with seatbelts stayed secure while unbuckled dummies were tossed around — a clear reminder to always buckle up. WJAR NBC 10
