- ➤ Operation Stand Down RI will re-create the full Boots on the Ground Memorial display at Fort Adams State Park this Memorial Day weekend; it will be open today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on May 24 and 25 with the same hours, and on Memorial Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.—the display honors over 7,000 boots that remember Post-9/11 service members killed in the Global War on Terror. - ➤ Newport’s Zoning Board of Review overturned the Historic District Commission’s denial of the Bellevue Avenue hotel project on May 19, saying the evidence shows the site meets local compatibility standards—Procaccianti Companies had made design changes in earlier meetings to address concerns. - ➤ Discover Newport and RIPTA announced the free hop-on hop-off trolley service, Route 67, is available today until October 31 and will stop at key locations including Bellevue Avenue, Memorial Boulevard, and Salve Regina University; the program also offers discounted parking at the Newport Transportation Center.
