  • Newport County offers a weekend of events, with tours at Tiverton's West Place Animal Sanctuary on May 30 and 31 (walking from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and driving at 4 p.m.), Battery Day at Conanicut Battery Historic Park on May 30, and more including art and a plant sale.  The Newport Daily News
  • Middletown will dedicate its Liberty Tree at Paradise Valley Park on Sunday, May 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. as the kickoff event for the town’s 250 Commission; it includes a keynote speech by R.I.   • Newport Public Schools will end classes on Friday, June 26 + other districts across Rhode Island will finish between June 12 and June 23 due to make-up days following closures under a new waiver.  The Newport Daily News
  • Newport Public Schools Superintendent Colleen Burns Jermain held her penultimate conversation on Wednesday, highlighting a $3.8M deficit and ideas to restructure school facilities—including a possible closure of Thompson Middle School—as she prepares for her June 30 retirement.   • Rhode Island invites soccer fans to explore local World Cup events and attractions this summer.
