  • Today, a huge 470-foot crane ship is in Narragansett Bay to help build an offshore wind project and New Bedford is fighting a surge of rats near Shawmut Avenue after a local fire, while officials in Pawtucket say a time capsule from the old McCoy Stadium will be opened on June 23.   • Yesterday, Newport residents enjoyed a busy day as IYRS graduates set sail with vessels they built and the Rotary Club hosted its Annual Charity Polo Match to support local scholarships—many other events, from community markets to open houses and film screenings, added to the local excitement amid a wet morning forecast.   • The Newport Canine Couture Show returns to Rough Point estate on June 7 from 4—7 p.m.—with dog fashion, pet photo booths, treats, and a marketplace.   • Emmy-winning actor Sam Waterston will bring Nick Carraway back to life at Newport’s historic Rosecliff mansion during The Great Gatsby Revisited: An Evening with Sam Waterston event on July 9.   • Gallery Sitka and Newport Wine Cellar and Gourmet will host a free Summer Solstice art show and wine tasting on June 13 at The Tasting Room—located on 5 Merton Road in Newport—with the exhibit running until July 10.
