  • Ragged Island Brewing Co. will host its 2nd Annual Music Festival on June 7 and 8 — featuring local talent and tribute bands at a Portsmouth venue. The brewery will be closed to the public during the event so fans must secure tickets soon due to limited space.  What's Up Newp

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Newport Planning Board approved a redevelopment plan for Waites Wharf on June 2nd—creating a hotel, wedding venue, event space, retail, and residential units—under strict conditions such as a required parking plan and traffic measures, with final approval pending city staff and state agency review. Many local residents objected to the project by submitting letters, while some business owners supported the plan.  Newport This Week
  • Newport City Council will meet Wednesday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall to resume discussion of the FY2026-FY2027 Biennial Budget and review permits for local events while considering proposals on Elm Street Pier repair, Kilburn Court 24-hour parking, a $150,000 marsh restoration grant, a three-year grant management software subscription, and a Polimorphic AI renewal.
