- ➤ Governor Dan McKee signed an assault weapons ban law that stops the sale and manufacturing of these guns. The law will take effect July 1 next year and does not ban keeping the weapons—Rhode Island now joins 11 other states with a similar rule. ABC6
- ➤ The governor signed a law banning assault weapons today — it stops the making, buying, selling, or transferring of certain military-style guns like semi-automatic rifles and shotguns with fixed magazines or revolving cylinders.
