  • A day-long fundraiser took place yesterday at Newport Pickle Ball Club by group Banded Together to support the families of 15-year-old Kelly Nevitt—who died in last month’s partial building collapse at the Portuguese American Citizens Club—and 17-year-old Aaron Delgado, who is recovering.   • BlueTIDE 2025 will take place on Aug. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Sail Newport and the Narragansett Bay Test Facility, where over 30 companies will show their ocean gadgets like underwater robots and sensor systems—partners including the U.S. Navy, NavalX and Northeast Tech Bridge plan to test innovations that boost safety and support the blue economy.  What's Up Newp

  • The Newport Folk Festival ended with a group performance called 'Songs for the People,' where actor John C. Reilly hosted a series of covers that celebrated unity and paid tribute to past artists using songs like 'Hallelujah' and 'Deportee' + artists performed in honor of Brian Wilson and Janis Joplin. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Rhode Island Association of Realtors reported that housing prices are rising in the state, with the median home sale in June at $520,000 — over 5% higher than last year and 70% above 2019 levels.
