- ➤ Yesterday, BankNewport’s Charitable Foundation gave a $50,000 grant to Jamestown Community Farm to help buy 15 acres on Conanicut Island — the grant will help the farm meet its payment obligations as it works toward a $4.45 million plan and brings 11 to 14 tons of fresh vegetables each year to local food pantries. - ➤ West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton has launched electric vehicle tours on its 8-acre property to let visitors with mobility challenges enjoy a 60-minute guided ride and meet rescued animals. The tours are available by appointment starting at 9:30 a.m. daily with special pricing at $295 for up to five people, and the nonprofit is still fundraising to cover the vehicle’s cost — extra sessions will be offered during Fall Visitors Weekend on Sept. 6-7.
