- ➤ Rhode Island State Police and local police from Newport, Portsmouth, Middletown, and Jamestown will enforce DUI laws this Labor Day weekend—using the Providence Police Department’s mobile testing unit to check drivers in Newport County from Friday to Monday. ABC6
- ➤ Rhode Island special assistant attorney general Devon Flanagan was put on unpaid leave for six months after she told a Newport officer 'Buddy, you're gonna regret this' during her Aug. 14 arrest for trespassing outside a restaurant—she has since apologized to the officers.
