- ➤ A state prosecutor who refused to leave the Clarke Cooke House on Aug. 14 was arrested by Newport Police and placed on unpaid leave for six months, Attorney General Peter Neronha announced on Aug. 25—she is now charged with willful trespass. Newport This Week
- ➤ The BAT Mobile will be deployed for DUI checks Labor Day weekend at Park Square on the Woonsocket—North Smithfield line Friday from 8 p.m. to 4 p.m. and at John F. - ➤ A collection of rare Rhode Island historical artifacts from the Brown, Herreshoff, and DeWolf families will be offered for auction by Nye and Company Auctioneers next month in Bloomfield, New Jersey — the two-day event is set for Sept. 10-11 and will feature star pieces such as 18th-century furniture linked to John Brown and Newport cabinetmaker John Goddard.
