  • Salve Regina opened its football season with a dominant 34-13 win over UMass Dartmouth at Toppa Field Saturday—senior quarterback Thomas Fallon threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns while the Seahawks tied the all-time series at 8-8.  What's Up Newp
  • Devin Farrell threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Rams to a 31-17 win over Stony Brook on Saturday night after a delayed start from thunderstorms—Enda Kirby kicked a 22-yard field goal and Rolan Dempster scored on a 1-yard run.  What's Up Newp
  • Newport County high school football teams begin the season with hopes placed on four key players — Adam Conheeny from Portsmouth, Finn McCarthy from Middletown, Derek Lloyd from Rogers and Alex Monkevicz from Tiverton.
