The Boat House in Tiverton will close at 227 Schooner Drive after dinner on Oct.
3 for extensive renovations including a new outdoor bar, expanded patio and refreshed dining room, with plans to reopen in late spring.
🎭 Culture
St. Mary’s Church will mark the 73rd wedding anniversary of Jacqueline Bouvier and John F.
Kennedy with ‘Return to Camelot: The Kennedy Wedding Remembered’ on Saturday, Sept. 12 at noon. The event features vintage film, live organ music, and a tour of the historic church (free parking is available).
🎓 Education
FabNewport launched Endless Summer in Newport this week, offering a free, year-round learning opportunity for 14 students ages 10 to 14.
The program runs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and partners with local businesses, farms and cultural organizations to enrich student experiences.
Fifty-four Rhode Island high school seniors were named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists on Sept.
9, giving them a chance to compete for about 6,700 scholarships next spring. Students from schools including Barrington High and Cranston High are among those recognized (a full list is in the release).
🏛️ Government
Rep. Lauren H. Carson will present survey results at the Point Association’s fall meeting to address local flooding concerns.
The meeting is set for Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. in the church hall at St. John the Evangelist Church (61 Poplar St).
