Newport remembers the 1938 New England Hurricane that made landfall on September 21, 1938—this major storm, the first since 1869, caused 100 deaths in Westerly and saw Newport record its highest water level at 3.53 meters above mean sea level.

Newport Harbor welcomed the Aurora and Enchanted Princess on Sept 21 as part of a season that will see 32 more cruise ship visits through early November.

October will be the busiest month with 19 arrivals - local businesses are preparing for a surge in passengers.
