- ➤ The Audrain Newport Concours and Motor Week will host a free public exhibit of historic race cars during Oct. 3-4 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The display will feature 23 vehicles—from a 1901 Panhard to a 1997 Ferrari—that show over 100 years of racing history. What's Up Newp
- ➤ The Newport Festa Italiana will return Sept. 26-Oct. 13 with nearly three weeks of Italian food, music, and cultural celebration in the City by the Sea. The festival will begin Friday Sept. 26 with the John Panaggio Original Ziti Night at Vasco da Gama Hall from 5-7 p.m.—tickets cost $30 for adults and $5 for children, and it will include a cheese-making workshop on Oct. 2, a free Italian event on Oct. 4, a singer performance on Oct. 10, and conclude with a Mass and parade on Oct. 13. - ➤ Last Friday, nine-time Grammy winner Christian McBride announced he was stepping down as artistic director of the Newport Jazz Festival after nearly a decade of leadership. - ➤ Gov. Dan McKee and Gov. Ned Lamont will hold a joint press conference on Tuesday (Sept 30) in New London to discuss the future of Revolution Wind, a project with 45 turbines located 15 miles off our coast. A federal ruling allowed construction to resume after work was halted last month and delays costing $2.3 million a day nearly collapsed the project. WJAR NBC 10
- ➤ Governor Dan McKee and Governor Ned Lamont will hold a joint press conference on Tuesday in New London, Connecticut to discuss the future of Revolution Wind—this follows a federal ruling that lifted a work stoppage which had cost $2.3 million a day, and 45 turbines now sit off the Rhode Island coast amid environmental concerns. - ➤ On Monday, Salve Regina University launched a new mobile health unit—40-foot long and fully equipped with counseling and exam rooms—funded by a $1.95M federal grant secured by Senator Jack Reed and Newport officials; the unit will begin serving local communities this fall as it trains new health care workers.
