GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A forensic audit shows that decades of neglect led to the sudden closure of Washington Bridge in December as it suffered leaking joints, cracked concrete and corrosion—problems that were noted in inspections for decades and raised questions about whether RIDOT knew of the damage. Gov. McKee has called for an independent review while lawsuits against 13 companies continue and a new westbound bridge is set to open in November.  WJAR NBC 10
