  • The Broadway Street Fair 2025 will bring many local vendors to Newport as booths are set up from Equality Park to City Hall and Stone Street—local food, art and service groups will offer diverse options to residents.  Newport This Week
  • Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard will host its annual Pumpkin Regatta on Oct. 10 to raise funds for Sail Newport, with participants racing fiberglass pumpkins from 4 to 7 p.m. at 1 Washington St.—the $25 entry fee covers both paddlers and spectators, and the event will also offer food from A Mano Pizza, a silent auction, and direct donation opportunities.  What's Up Newp

  • The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce will host its sixth annual Business Walk on October 24 – business owners will meet with government officials and volunteers will interview participants to gather input on the local business climate; a report with recommendations will follow.  Newport This Week

CULTURE NEWS

  • Puddingstone Music will present a chamber music concert at Rough Point Mansion on Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.—the show will feature violinist Geneva Lewis and pianist Audrey Vardanega performing works by Brahms, Schubert and Schumann and will include art by London-born visual artist Alastair Dacey.  What's Up Newp
  • Newport String Project will open its Newport County Concert Series on Oct. 25—26 with the Newport String Quartet performing at 3 p.m. in Middletown on Oct. 25 and in Jamestown on Oct. 26. The program will feature works by contemporary composers Caroline Shaw and Bryce Dessner along with Beethoven’s Razumovsky quartet.  What's Up Newp
  • Two Rhode Island chefs are competing on Hell's Kitchen as Executive Chef Cara Mourning from Blu Violet in Providence and Executive Chef Antonio Wormley from Little Clam in Newport advanced to week three—both receiving mixed feedback from Gordon Ramsay. The next episode airs on October 9 at 9 p.m. on Fox and will decide who earns a head chef position and $250,000.  The Newport Daily News
  • The 7th Annual Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance ended over the past 5 days with perfect weather and 180 classic vehicles divided into 26 classes. The 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corto Spider — The Rimoli Alfa, owned by Chris McAllister and driven by his son Alex, won best in show while Jay Leno and other judges presented awards.  What's Up Newp

  • The American Cancer Society says more than 1,100 women in Rhode Island and over 316,000 women nationally will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the end of the year while the death rate drops—experts credit improved treatments for the decline.
