- ➤ Pivotal Brewing Company announced Tuesday it is seeking a new operator for its Newport location because the venue does not fit its long-term plan. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Newport's historic John Bliss House—built in 1680 and tied to Revolutionary War events—was added to the National Register after a five-year review by its owner, the Miller family. They plan to keep the house and hope that future tax credits will help protect its legacy. WJAR NBC 10

- ➤ The Community College of Rhode Island is partnering with the Newport Chamber, the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, and the city to sponsor a free career fair on Oct. 30 at Innovate Newport, 513 Broadway—this event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include over 30 employers from sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, technology, and hospitality, inviting job seekers to bring their resumes. - ➤ Newport Public Schools Superintendent Colleen Burns Jermain announced at the Oct. 14 School Committee meeting that she will step down on June 30, 2026. She led the district for over a decade and earned her doctorate at Johnson and Wales University but faced a vote of no confidence from the Teachers Association over recent staff cuts. - ➤ The Kids' Wonder Lab at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center still has spots available for children 18 months to 4 years old and helps build social and developmental skills with activities like kinetic sand and splash pads.
