- ➤ Island Interact Teen Club with support from Middletown Rotary Club launched today its annual Winter Coat Drive to help local families stay warm by collecting new and gently used coats, jackets, hats, gloves and scarves — donations collected at sites like Wickford Appliance, Eye Care of Rhode Island, Bank Newport, Newport County YMCA, KVH Industries and Middletown High School will benefit partners including Island Oasis Food Pantry, Newport County Mental Health Crisis Team, Oceanpointe and Lucy’s Hearth. - ➤ Food pantries across the region are bracing for a potential SNAP shutdown today—after recent government cuts led to reduced food supplies.
