- ➤ Emmanuel Church completed a new pollinator garden to support its food programs that deliver fresh groceries to neighbors and nurture local bees, butterflies and birds — the garden is beside the new accessible Community Bridge entrance and adds to ongoing efforts such as hydroponic gardening and community dinners. - ➤ O’Brien’s Pub is hosting a fundraiser on Dec. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. to support Hurricane Melissa victims in Jamaica+ tickets cost $25 and a silent auction, raffle, and DJ will help raise funds for families of the pub’s staff. What's Up Newp

- ➤ Roger Williams University said student Pierre Hriz, 20, who died in a motorcycle crash on Nov. 10 on I-195, will be honored on Dec 2 — from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. — in the Upper Commons with a book of remembrance available at the Center for Student Academic Success. ABC6

- ➤ Newport-based Heritage Restaurant Group bought Anthony’s Seafood Market & Restaurant in Middletown on Tuesday — a popular seafood spot since 1956 — and said the Bucolo brothers will keep running the business. - ➤ Newport County will welcome the holiday season this weekend with West Place Animal Sanctuary hosting a Holiday Shop & Stroll with farm tours on November 28–29 and the Newport Illuminated Boat Parade lighting up the harbor on November 28—additional events include dog photos with Santa at Raymond F. Jones Memorial Dog Park and a live radio play of A Christmas Carol on November 29, while local hikes offer outdoor fun. The Newport Daily News

- ➤ A University of New Hampshire poll of 711 Rhode Islanders from November 13 to 17 showed most residents are worried about rising prices for everyday goods and energy costs—over 75% are concerned about higher heating bills this winter. The results also indicated 40% expect to spend less on holiday shopping and 25% said they often do not have enough money to spend, with many feeling the state and national economy is worsening. ABC6

- ➤ Rhode Island Energy reversed its earlier plan to drop a savings offer and will now let customers save about $32 each month on their electric bills from January through March—this change was approved by the Public Utilities Commission. ABC6
