New Year’s Day polar plunges will occur, including Newport’s Freezin’ for a Reason at Easton’s Beach — and events at The Lobster Bar, Tiverton, Middletown, Portsmouth and Little Compton.
Participants will jump into cold water to raise funds for families, libraries, scholarships and historic preservation.

A screening of THE TALE OF SILYAN is happening today in Newport, featuring an 80-minute documentary by director Tamara Kotevska that follows farmer Nikola as he heals an injured white stork.
Tickets cost $15 with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the film starting at 7:00 p.m.
