  • 56-year-old Joseph Fragata, indicted on eight felony charges including arson and stalking after he set fire to a condo complex and allegedly looked into a resident's window and sent inappropriate photos, was arraigned Tuesday.  ABC6

  • The Newport Jazz Festival returns to Fort Adams State Park from August 1-3 and will feature headliners Janelle Monáe, The Roots, and Jacob Collier—British vocalists RAYE and Jorja Smith will make their debuts. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Newport City Council approved an ordinance today to raise most parking violation fines from $40 to $60 and fines for blocking fire hydrants, parking on fire lanes or in restricted areas to $100—City Administration said the change follows a survey of other communities and is expected to add over $438,000 in revenue. The update is the first change in fees since 2019.  The Newport Daily News
