  • Newport International Boat Show announced its 2025 Newport for New Products awards on Friday with an event held Sept. 12 on Newport’s waterfront, naming Hinckley Yachts’ Picnic Boat 39 (Best New Boat Overall and Best New Powerboat Under 45‐feet).   • The University of Rhode Island launched its first study abroad program in Cabo Verde this summer—honoring late Newport resident Earl N. Smith III—and sent eleven students there to learn about social justice and cross-cultural understanding. The program will run again next summer to continue Smith’s legacy.  What's Up Newp
